A residential summer program designed for enthusiastic high school students interested in the great stories of antiquity and beginning to think about their college application personal statements. In a bucolic seacoast setting north of Boston the Classics come alive for accomplished students seeking an interdisciplinary education experience with a diverse group of peers.

Calder Classics is excited to offer this Upper Level course based on the study of Classics, but requiring NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF ANCIENT GREEK OR LATIN LANGUAGE. By observing and discussing the interaction and implementation of ideas from antiquity this course makes the Classics come alive for accomplished students seeking an interdisciplinary education experience with a diverse group of peers.

The Iliad and the Personal Essay, Essex, MA
Students arrive in Essex, MA mid-day on Saturday, July 22. This small sea-side town north of Boston is an ideal location for academic and recreational activities. Students will have opportunities to play squash and tennis, visit the beach, kayak and go boating while dining on fresh seafood and produce from local farms.
The $xxxx tuition includes accommodations, transportation to local activities, museum entries, instruction, and course materials (certain additional books may need to be purchased). Breakfast and dinner and most lunches are included. Depending on our daily schedules, students are on their own for some lunch breaks. Students are responsible for the cost of their activities outside of the group.
