Ancient Greek is where the story begins. Every true student of Classics must learn this foundational language. In this dynamic online course, you’ll be introduced to the fundamentals of Ancient Greek.
Intro to Ancient Greek Level 1
This Ancient Greek language course is designed for beginners. Level 1 begins with the alphabet and covers the basics of the Ancient Greek language, including noun, adjective, and participle declensions, verb forms, and the basics of Greek syntax. At the end of the course, students will have a working vocabulary of about 200 words.
2026 DATES AND FEES
Level 1: August 3 – 14, 2026, Monday – Friday, 10am – 12pm EDT
These are online, synchronous courses, so students will be expected to join on time, participate in discussions, and keep their cameras on for the duration of the class.
Course Fee per Level: $1500.
Each session is subject to a minimum of 3 students enrolled. The fee includes instruction and course materials (certain additional books may need to be purchased).
Application Deadline
The priority deadline has passed but we are still accepting applications for this program on a rolling admissions basis while space is available. Applications will be considered as they are received and acceptances will be granted based on careful consideration by our staff as long as spots are still available. Your application will be processed and you will receive a reply regarding your acceptance status within one to two weeks of your submission date provided that we have received your teacher reference.

Clare Kearns
Clare Kearns
Clare Kearns is a Ph.D. candidate in Classics at Brown University. Her research primarily focuses on gender and sexuality in the Roman Empire, but she also often works on instances of Classical reception in feminist and anti-colonial contexts. Prior to Brown, she received a B.A. in Classics and Comparative Literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Outside of Classics, she enjoys hiking, reading contemporary fiction, and taking care of her dog, Olive.
